Overview

HadithHub ("we", "our", or "the app") provides access to the Holy Quran, Hadith collections, and classical Arabic Islamic texts through our website at quran-hadith.org and our mobile applications for Android and iOS. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

Signing in is entirely optional. You can read, search and bookmark everything without an account. If you never sign in, we do not collect any personal data about you at all.

If You Do Not Sign In

We do not collect any personal data.

  • No account is required to use any part of the app or website.
  • We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any identifying information.
  • We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising SDKs.
  • We do not track your location. Prayer times are calculated on your device.
  • Your bookmarks, settings and daily checklist stay on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.

If You Choose to Sign In

You may optionally create an account using Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, so that your saved content follows you between your phone, tablet and this website.

What we receive from the provider

  • A provider account identifier — an opaque ID from Apple or Google that we use to recognise you on your next sign-in. This is the only identifier your account is keyed on.
  • Your email address, if the provider supplies it. With Sign in with Apple you may choose Hide My Email, in which case we only ever receive Apple's private relay address and never your real one.
  • Your name, if the provider supplies it. Apple sends this only on your first sign-in.

We never receive your password, and we have no access to anything else in your Apple or Google account.

What we store so it can sync

Once signed in, the following is stored on our servers and associated with your account so that it can be shared between your own devices:

  • Bookmarks — saved Quran ayahs, hadiths, duas and library pages, together with any folders, tags, colours and personal notes you add to them.
  • Saved searches — searches you explicitly choose to save.
  • Daily checklist — which items you have completed, any items or sections you have added yourself, and your record of previous days.
  • Tasbeeh counters — your counts and targets.
  • Display preferences — theme, language, font and font size.
  • Your devices — a device name, platform and app version, so you can see and revoke where you are signed in.

Security records

To keep accounts secure we retain a limited security log of sign-ins, sign-outs and suspected token misuse. IP addresses in this log are stored only as a one-way hash — we do not keep raw IP addresses, and the hash cannot be reversed to recover one.

Search history

Your recent search history is deliberately not synced and never leaves your device.

How We Use This Data

We use it for exactly one purpose: to give you back your own content on your own devices. Specifically, we do not:

  • sell, rent or share your data with advertisers or data brokers;
  • use your data to build advertising or marketing profiles;
  • use your reading, bookmarks or searches to train machine learning models;
  • send you marketing email.

Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account at any time, from your account settings on this website or from the Settings screen in the mobile apps. No email or support request is required.

Deleting your account permanently removes your profile and everything synced to it — bookmarks, folders, saved searches, checklist history, counters, preferences and device records. If you signed in with Apple, we also tell Apple to revoke the sign-in token issued to us. A short security log entry recording that the deletion occurred is retained.

Data already stored on your own devices stays there; those apps simply stop syncing.

Data Stored on Your Device

Whether or not you sign in, the following is kept locally on your device:

  • Bookmarks and checklist — the local copy remains the one the app reads, so it keeps working offline.
  • Settings — your language preference, theme, font choice, and font size.
  • Search history — recent searches for auto-fill suggestions, stored locally only.
  • Sign-in tokens, if you are signed in — held in the iOS Keychain, the Android Keystore, or a secure browser cookie that scripts cannot read.

You can clear this data at any time by clearing the app's data in your device settings or clearing your browser's local storage.

Network Requests

The app makes network requests over HTTPS to our servers to fetch Quran text, hadith content, library pages, and search results. These requests carry no personal information and are made the same way whether or not you are signed in. Standard server logs may record IP addresses and request timestamps, but these are not used for tracking or identification and are retained only for operational purposes.

If you are signed in, requests that read or write your own synced content additionally carry your sign-in token so the server knows the data belongs to you.

Where Your Data Is Held

  • Vercel — hosts our website and API. Vercel's standard infrastructure logs may apply.
  • Turso — hosts our databases. Account data is held in a database kept separate from the one serving Quran and hadith content.
  • Apple and Google — only if you choose to sign in with them. Their own privacy policies govern the sign-in itself.
  • Google Fonts — Arabic font files may be loaded from the Google Fonts CDN. Google's privacy policy applies to those requests.

We do not share any data with advertisers or data brokers.

Your Rights

If you have an account you can view the data associated with it in your account settings, and delete all of it at any time as described above. For any other request regarding your data, contact us at the address below.

Children's Privacy

Our app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app can be used in full without an account, in which case no personal data is collected from any user. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
